WINTER VALLEY REGIONAL RAILWAY

The Cape Britton & Central Nova Scotia Railway was an instant hit with me as soon as I saw these engines smoking away just off the south end of the Canso Causeway.  Honorary steam engines indeed.  Oh!. They’re much better than that.

There’s a widening in the road on the south side of the causeway.  It’s a sort of rest stop for truckers and families on a long haul.  Its also a great place to see the CB$CNS in action.  We chased this train out of Port Hawkesburry trying to get in front of it for the perfect causeway/bridge/train shot but it wasn’t to be.

Let me check out the numbers for you. Meet William Dunbar. This MLW C-630 is ex-Canadian National and one of 8 on the roster of this Nova Scotia short line.  I love the paint job.  One of the very best in the industry I figure.  Do you name your engines?   Nice idea.  I’m going to find a name for my SD40-s’s.
