Many thanks to the team at Trackside Model Railroading for the job they did during a long, productive visit to the Winter Valley Regional Railway late in 2019 and of course for the professional editing that followed.  I’m thrilled with the results and I highly recommend the work of Ross and Jenny Waters.

The short videos seen here are only clips of the full layout and all the railroad activity.

This shorter video shows a sample of both CN and WV operation on the layout.

This second, longer video follows the route of WV Extra 5006 as it works it’s way through some of the countryside tween Grand Prairie and Fox Creek.

The full length video, some 30 minutes long, also details some of the CN work along the line.  I hope you enjoy the trip.

The Winter Valley Story

The story of the Winter Valley Regional Railway is a story of ordinary people determined to overcome the odds.

When the CNR applied for abandonment of 120 miles of prairie branchline a handful of local farmers and businessmen faced the ultimate loss of a vital rail service. A series of town meetings soon brought together all the ingredients necessary to create the WVRR…. and the rest is history.

Today a fleet of modern diesels move a wide variety of merchandise out to the waiting world via connections with CN and BC Rail and increasing numbers of tourists enjoy popular summer excursions powered by the vintage CPR 8450.
